With three decades of experience, USTDA offers some of the most effective, targeted, and proven solutions within the U.S. government to help its overseas partners transition to climate-resilient net-zero emissions economies. USTDA understands that catalytic support for project preparation is critically needed to unlock investments in the trillions of dollars of infrastructure necessary to tackle the climate crisis. The Agency's program connects U.S. technical leadership and exporters with overseas partners to support the development of infrastructure that meets the needs of the 21st Century. At USTDA, we are particularly proud of our support for the deployment of advanced technologies that leverage U.S. innovation to move us toward a net-zero carbon world by mid-century and employ creative adaptation strategies that meet our partners’ needs.
Through the Global Partnership for Climate-Smart Infrastructure that President Biden announced at the 2021 White House Leaders Summit on Climate, USTDA has funded more than 80 activities with the potential to help unlock $70 billion in climate finance for energy and transportation projects in developing and middle-income countries that support ambitious climate goals. These activities are anticipated to support $18 billion in U.S. exports of advanced technologies and services to meet the climate mitigation and adaptation needs of overseas partners.
USTDA’s support for the development of climate smart infrastructure projects is fully aligned with the Climate and Energy Security Pillar of the Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment launched by the G7 in June 2022 to meet the infrastructure needs of low- and middle-income countries. We are also pleased to support all three pillars of the President’s Emergency Plan for Adaptation and Resilience (PREPARE), announced by President Biden in November 2021, including through activities that leverage advanced U.S. expertise in digital and telecommunications strategies for emergency preparedness and response, weather forecasting, digital communications, and water use efficiency.
Through all of these programs, USTDA is supporting U.S. exports, bringing the best of U.S. innovation to the global stage, meeting the needs of our partners, and creating American jobs.
